Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Word Jar is built privacy-first. The short version: everything you log stays on your device. There are no servers, no accounts, and no analytics — Word Jar does not collect, transmit, or sell any data.
What Word Jar stores (on your device only)
The words you log, their language, the dates, and any notes are saved in a local database on your device. If you record or attach video clips, those are stored on your device; a recording is also saved into your own Photos library so you always keep the original.
What we collect
Nothing. Word Jar has no backend, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no user accounts. Your data never leaves your device through Word Jar.
Permissions
- Camera & microphone — only if you choose to record a clip.
- Photos — to save recordings you make into your own library.
- Notifications — only if you turn on the optional weekly reminder.
All permissions are optional and used solely on your device.
Exporting your data
You can export your words as a CSV file at any time via the system share sheet. Where that file goes is entirely your choice; Word Jar is not involved once you share it.
Children's privacy
Word Jar is used by parents to record their own child's words. Because nothing is transmitted or collected, no personal information about you or your child is ever sent to us or anyone else.
Changes
If the app's privacy practices ever change, we'll update this page and its “last updated” date.
